If you would’ve asked me when I was younger where I thought I’d live when I was older I wouldn’t have thought it would be where I am now.
I probably would’ve answered with something like “New York!” I thought I’d live in a big city and be doing something fashionable.
Although I would never turn down a trip to the big apple, it’s not my first choice anymore. Nor is living in a big city. In fact, that feels like a past life in some ways.
My last trip to NYC was work related. It checked the list on “doing something fashionable.” Although the job had the glitz of travel it wasn’t all rainbows.This trip in particular was interesting. Between missing luggage, taking the wrong train into Philly, among other mishaps, the job overall wasn’t a match. But that’s a story for another day.
I will say, my first trip to NYC back in 2002 was one of the most interesting trips that I’ve ever been on. I experienced a lot of paranormal activity which bolted me back into my curiosity around what I could see beyond the veil.
There is something that every place you live or visit brings you in energy, feeling or transformation.
Now fast forward and my life is quiet at preference.
If you had asked the people close to me 15 years ago if they would’ve pictured me where I am now, they probably would have said “no”. A lot of my life changed when I decided to make the decision to live a sober lifestyle. It’s been almost 6 years now.
I couldn’t be happier with the beauty, the lake views, the gardens, the hillsides, and the dryer weather that now surround me.
Although the Vancouver coast line and damp rainforest will always hold a special place in my heart, it was time for a change and I welcome the nostalgia I feel here when the rain pours down on the desert.
The past four years I’ve spent in a deep introspective process. If I were a tarot card I would be the hermit. All of which has brought me to a deeper place within the work that I do.
