I've always had naturally wavy hair since I was a little girl. My teen years were my iron flattened straight as a board hair era. You could catch me leaning over the ironing board to straighten and "fry" my hair.
Thankfully the industry caught on and started to make some of the best hair straighteners out there so the steam iron days were over. Of course in those days my friends and I were still frying our hair with the dye and the professional flat irons but it was more sophisticated than hanging over the clothes iron.
It wasn't until when I was out with my best friend Erin and hair stylist at Vancouver's GlosSalon for dinner for my 40th birthday that I got inspired by her taking on her natural curls. I love to go as natural as I can with things so it only makes sense that I start to embrace my hair in its natural form.
Erin's Recommendations:
A microfibre towel: This one is a game changer. As soon as you get out of the shower use this towel to remove excess water. A regular towel is what ends up creating frizz which is what I wanted to steer clear of. These are the ones that I ordered: amazon
Davines LOVE Curl Revitalizer Spray This one sets your natural waves and keeps the frizz at bay. I put this in my hair right after I use the microfibre towel. Spray and scrunch with your hands.
She also recommended a sea salt spray and oil to finish. Since I live outside of Vancouver I turned to my local area to find something that would work and ended up finding Merge Tofino's line of hair care and I'm loving these two products for my hair.
I use Merge's sea salt hair mist which I absolutely love for that just came from the beach, wavy surf hair. Spray into your hair after using the LOVE spray when your hair is partially dry or dry and give your hair a scrunch again with your hands. I then add the solstice oil to finish the look. The smell of this oil is divine. You only need a couple little drops in the palms of your hands. I find the oil moisturizes the hair and enhances the curls.
For the sea salt hair mist and solstice oil duo you can find it here
